Hotel was clean and pretty. Problems, Called before to verify wifi and blow dryer. First night we pulled out the couch bed and there were no sheets, blankets or pillow cases for the bumpy bed. Desk kept insisting they were in the room and they were not. Finally sent some. The blow dryer did not work. Replaced it on the last day. Kitchen area only had one bowl for cereal and no spoons. One bedroom unit cannot park in front of the room, have to park about 3blocks away. The car that does get to park in the driveway is the unit above. The windows in the floor unit are directly in front of the driveway. The curtains are terrible the headlights lit up the whole room when they came home at 1AM and we were startled awake with the light. Felt like we were being burglarized. Noise penetrates the whole bottom from the top. We could hear everything. The DVD player did not work in the bedroom. The DVD player in the living room was not hooked up. I had to crawl around to get those to work. The other one had to be replaced. After the first day we thought we had malfunctioning equipment for the wifi. We called the desk on my mobile as there was no phone at all in the room. Turns out that the wifi did not work because there was no working land phone line at all in the room. Someone came out on the last day to fix the wifi and said he would be back and never returned. The management was given ample opportunity to try and resolve issues never even called back, again I verbalized disappointmet in person at check out they did not care.

The condo unit was HUGE and comfortable and likely nicer than most of us regular folks homes. Granite counters w/stainless appliances, marble tile floors and bath area, walk in closets (his & hers) and a marina + oceanside view that simply couldn't have been more perfect! The wi-fi wasn't working for us in the unit (office had wrong password) but I didn't want to be on a stupid computer here anyway! That's the reason we wanted to get away! Mandalay Restaurant, right across the marina, was fabulous as was the entertainment. Even the locals recommended the place! Saw all kinds of marine life right at dockside, including lobsters and stingrays. Pool areas were both well maintained and larger one was kid friendly with a very gradual wading pool like entrance on each end (not crowded while we were there). Didn't use the spas but they looked great too. Grounds were well maintained and security guards at entrance gate station were warm and helpful too. Had to buy our own spices, oil, etc., including salt & pepper for cooking, but pans and dishes were quite adequate for cooking up quite a meal of fresh caught fish. 2 to 3 miles north to Publix grocery store or 3 miles south to Winn-Dixie. Lots of other places to see, eat and shop in the area. This is a keeper place to go back to anytime. I would say our expectations were far exceeded and delightfully so. This would be the #1 best place I've ever booked with ONLINE TRAVEL WEBSITE since ... well, EVER! Only thing to Hate was Leaving!!! BTW - Appropriate for families as well as romantic getaways like we enjoyed as a couple.

  • Nice place ... if it's what you're looking for

Gated, safe and secluded. You have to drive to almost everything, but nothing was far and that wasn't a big deal for us. There is no night life in the area, so don't expect to get your party on, but there are many good restaurants - some with live or dj music until 10 PM. Nice, safe environment for families. Also suitable for romantic trips. Both pools and the jacuzzi are nice and none ever seemed to be very crowded. Fitness center is excellent, although I only made it there once (shame on me). There is a restaurant beside the property, right on the water. Food was good enough if you don't want to venture out, but there is better out there. Cafe Largo, Snapper's and Fish House were our favs. The dive shop next door was an excellent, convenient place to do your kayaking, wave running, boat rental, etc. The only complaints I have are that the housekeeping could have been better. Nothing was disgusting, but it could have been cleaner. I fixed the toilet several times during our stay instead of testing the maintenance staff. And PLEASE fix the walking gate between the marina and the dive shop/restaurant. We had to go through the delivery gate, which is a little less conveniently located, and push a button so security could open it. Returning from lunch one day under a very hot noon sun, security apparently wasn't at the main guard post and we baked for about 10 minutes waiting to get back in. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and would stay again. Keep in mind that Key Largo doesn't have the offerings some may look for in a vacation spot, but if Key Largo is where you want to be then this resort works well.

Our townhome rental was very nice: clean and large. The pool areas were great, never overly crowded. The ""hot"" tub, however, was colder than the pool. The television was fuzzy and not all channels came in--not that we went to watch TV, but for the little time we did, it was really annoying. The place felt more like the residential development that it is than a vacation resort. We missed having a beach, restaurant, or bar. (The info given says you can go through a walking gate to the restaurant next door, but that gate is always locked. You have to drive over.) Overall, it's OK if you don't mind driving for everything other than a pool.

  • Clean and safe, friendly help, not near a beach

The room was clean and pretty, and the amenities were very nice. The resort is gated and well-secured, so safe. We enjoyed the pools and spas. There was a nice restaurant right next door which was easy to get to. The resort gave us a complimentary 1-hour of kayaking for another company that was also next door. However, the information says that the resort is close to the beach and it's not. We didn't like the closest beach (John Pennecamp Natl Park--5 miles away) because it was rocky and you couldn't walk around bare foot; we needed to buy water shoes. But maybe that's common for Florida Keys beaches. So in a nutshell, we liked the room and amenities, but were disappointed that we weren't convenient to a beach.
