It was nice that this Best Western has a refridgerator and microwave in the rooms. The pool was decent as was the free breakfast. The major downside was that the room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke in it. In a way, ironic since they made a point of stating that I would incur a fee if I smoked in the room. They couldn't move me based upon availability in the hotel. They sprayed something and covered up the smell of it for a few hours. The next day it smelled just as bad and ithad to be sprayed again. This time, the staff was in denial that it smelled of smoke. Also, the cleaning crew started putting away food while we and several others were still getting and eating our free breakfast. Location was right off the expressway and a good starting point for downtown Houston, the SpaceCenter or Kemah Boardwalk. Don't expect much from the neighborhood though. If you get a room that is truly smoke-free, then it is a good option.

I checked in with a reservation and the staff person (who was hanging out on a couch in the lobby with her teenage boyfriend when I arrived) told me that although the room I was signed up for was non-smoking, someone had smoked in it the night before, so it smelled a little smokey. And no, they didn't have any other non-smoking room to offer me. Great. I was a little nervious leaving my work truck in the back parking lot (all that was available at 9:30pm). Upon entry, the room was on a smoking floor and yes, it was smokey and also very floral from trying to cover up the smell. For the price, the room was lacking... uncomfortable bed, dim lighting, bad picture on the TV, old furniture and bathroom...just overall felt seedy. I am not a germ-freak, but I put the old-school comforter in the corner. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I was very disappointed overall.

It was the nicest Best Western we have seen--all new and very comfortable. The furnishings were tastefully done, the pillow menu and high thread count sheets were a pleasant surprise, and the pleated, tucked and folded towels were quite ""uptown""--much more than we expected..the fridge and microwave were nice, too. The staff were very accomodating and friendly..will definitely stay there again. A quick easy buzz into downtown Houston Theatre district and lots of nearby restaurants, too.

The hotel was located right off of I-10, which makes travel into the city easy. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly... especially X. The parking area is a bit small but adequate; I found a spot right under my window/near the side entrance door. The computers in the lobby were a nice touch. Room was very clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.
