The room was full of flies. Balconies stank and beer bottles were scattered around the ground. Sink broken, hair in the tub. Air conditioner smelled moldy when ever the compressor shut off. This place needs a good power washing. Staff could not recommend a restaurant. Price charged was higher than quoted and I was told that the manager is the only one that could fix it, but the manager was not there.

The Days Inn is one of the first motels you see when entering the town of Carlsbad from the direction of Carlsbad Caverns. This is a good motel in the two star class, and is clean with good maintenance. The free breakfast is modest, but good if you want a quick breakfast before hitting the road. The only significant complaint was a noisy (but effective) air conditioning unit, which didn't bother me since I travel a lot and noisy a/c isn't uncommon. Did bother my wife and affected her sleep. Also, experience with the staff was mixed. Reception didn't project a feeling that they'd want my business again, but the cleaning staff was courteous and pleasant.

Reservations were made by phone for a one night stay for a local family event. We have a small dog-6 # but was not ask if we had a dog and once we arrived they had signs posted of a $100.00 fine if we had a dog and stayed in a non-smoking room so we declared her. That forced us into a smoking room, a $ deposit. Not a good experience for non smokers-even our children and grand children walked into the room and turned up their nose from the smoke smell. We complained about the odor before ever moving in-they accomodated by spraying a sweet mist and turning up the air which did nothing.When we got home we had to wash eveything we took because of the smoke smell. The toilet handle was falling off and the sink wouldn't drain unless you lifted out the stopper as it was disconnected. The carpet was dark and the line around the edge of the room was light grey with dust from not vacuuming the edges .
