We loved the friendly staff, and all of the amenities including the reception (free wine) and breakfast. The rooms were clean and spacious. However, we were very disappointed when we learned that by booking through Travel online, we forfeited our Hilton Honors points for both stays. This is a word of warning and we think Travel online needs to negotiate better. We like using Travel online, but this is a significant negative and we will never book Hilton Hotels through them again.

The hotel itself is a smaller scale version of the Miami Airport Embassy circa 1994, right down to the glass elevator and the three bedraggled koi, unable to move in too-shallow water amongst styrofoam "rocks." The helmet-haired was ungracious when we checked in, hungry and exhausted after a 6-hour flight and 2-hour drive. We asked about somewhere to dine and, despite our expressing a preference for Chinese, would ONLY admit that the city of Portland held 3 restaurants: "her" lounge, "her" snack bar, and "her" sit-down dining room. Traveling with a teen, I booked a suite to give us both some privacy. Unfortunately, the suites are on the mezzanine, exposing us to every sound from the lobby and every stench from the kitchen. We asked to be moved but because we had booked through a Travel online package, the manager (who clearly knows not to bother courting repeat business) condescendingly explained - loudly, in the lobby - that we couldn't be moved to another room because we were getting such a "great rate." (We weren't). Aside from a few dessicated pieces of fruit, the breakfast bar made no attempt to accommodate vegetarians/vegans - not even a non-dairy creamer was in sight and, when asked, the barely-English-speaking staff could not have shown less interest in understanding or answering the question. There was nowhere else to go within walking distance, and driving anywhere worth visiting meant navigating 10 minutes of slums. Our impression was of an outdated, dying hotel with a staff adapted to the slow pace and low standards of the hotel's twilight years. To us, those three poor koi rotting away in the unrenovated stream could have been mascots for the entire hotel.

The Embassy Suites was great for our family. While the pool seemed to have FAR more chlorine than anyone should be in contact with - - the kids LOVED it and we swam four times in less than two days. The breakfasts are good and the evening receptions were a real treat (free adult beverages and kid friendly versions too). We will definitely stay there again if NE Portland is our destination.

Stnadard breakfast fare wihich was quite good...omlete maker is fun to watch and talk to. Friendly people on staff. Recommend the Mountain view if you want to dodge the noise from the landing pattern. Manager's Reception was a disappointment....beer wine and little orange fish, no veggies or cheese/crackers.

Stayed here for a weekend trip (in town for a wedding May 3rd); very friendly service, super-clean non-smoking room, and awesome breakfast! The bed was very comfy, and this is coming from a picky person; if I HAD to critique one thing, the ONLY thing that would have made this stay better would be higher thread-count sheets, I'm spoiled and used to my 400+ TC at home. We didn't have a chance to check out the manager's reception (happy hour) but we will on our next stay. Pleasantly surprised with 2 things: relatively quick room service, yummy food (ends at 10pm though) and also very fast service for a plumbing problem that was swiftly fixed. Our room faced the mountain, which provided some nice views; maybe that's why I didn't hear any noise at all from the airport. Super-quick checkout, no problems with anything on this visit! Next time we visit Portland, we will definitely stay here again; why even bother with trying another hotel?
