With the economy being the way it is, expensive trips are now out of the question for me and my family. So when the weather was nice we decided to take a trip into Santa Cruz for a weekend getaway which ended up being extended to the weekday. Not only was the hotel within a reasonable budget, but everything from the staff, to the rooms to the lovely breakfast fully equipped with waffles for my two girls was a wonderful experience. Everyone was extremely attentive and with all the activities to do in Santa Cruz we decided to extend our trip. As an accountant I had work to do and this hotel was the perfect place to relax with some peace and quiet as the rooms are off of the main road. I got all my work done, my girls were happy and we returned home feeling refreshed! The Quality Inn Santa Cruz was a wonderful place to stay and we definitely will be back for more!

Me and my girlfriend decided to take a break from daily routine and spend the weekend at Santa Cruz. We stayed here last weekend. My expectations were not very high initially. But once I entered the room, it was just awesome. The room was one of the cleanest and best that I ever stayed in. All these followed by free internet service and breakfast in the morning. The front desk was also very co-operative and helpful. Overall it turned out to be just perfect and we had an ideal break that was long waited. I would stay here again and also strongly recommend to my friends.

My girlfriend and I came into town for a wedding and stayed for two nights. Upon arrival we decided to take a pre-dinner nap, which revealed a comforter with a very strong pee-like smell. When new bedding was brought to our room, the manager proceeded to argue with us about that fact that we were imagining the smell. Later that evening, there was a power outage on the west side of town. It was not the fault of the hotel, but was somewhat odd that land line phones were rendered inoperable. A backup generator (like some other hotels had) would have been convenient. The next day we returned from breakfast to find our room OPEN with nobody in sight. Apparently the maid had been cleaning multiple rooms and decided to leave them open, even though she could not monitor people going in and out. Thankfully our belongings all appeared to be present. During the cleaning process towels, soap, shampoo, etc were removed and not replaced. In fact, when I requested towels because we needed to shower and get to the wedding, I was informed that all towels were being washed and I would have to wait for them to dry... How about purchasing more towels or not taking the ones hanging up if you cannot replace them? Overall, the hotel was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable, but the service was sub-par and frustrating. I will not stay there again.

The Good: This place is a great deal compared to most of the competition. The staff & management are very decent. It's downtown for good walking and amazingly quiet. Our room was very clean, except for The Ugly. The Bad: They did not honor our online purchase for a room for four, and charged us $10 extra for our two grown children, even though the reservation receipt stated four persons. They were courteous, but firm about the extra charge. The Ugly: The carpet in our room was really worn and spotted, but not filthy. Everything thing else worked fine. Make sure that you ask to see your room before accepting it.
