  We reserved a room with a kitchenette only to find that all dishes and cutlery were locked up. We could access these items by paying an add $*!! What is the point of paying for a kitchenette if you can

  We liked this hotel. Its location was unbeatable, and the staff was extraordinarily helpful, especially with my husband in a wheel chair. We didn't eat at the hotel, so can't comment on that. The room had a full stove, not just a microwave, which was great. The hotel has a lot of character: it's older, wooden, the rooms are not cookie cutter, but have individuality. I wish they participated in the "reuse your towels and sheets", water/energy saving programs that most US hotels participate in, but we just told the housekeeper not to change the linens, and she complied. We had a good stay, and the price was entirely appropriate for the facilities. Exercise room was minimal.
