An older motel being kept up pretty well but with small annoyances. Our standard room was clean and comfortable, with fresh paint and new floor and wall tile in the bathroom. Most things worked well. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was available until 9:30 AM, better than most places. My orange "juice" tasted bad, like they had watered it down at least 50%. My wife said her apple "juice" tasted watered down as well. We had made reservations online, so I was put off a bit by being asked to fill out a redundant old-fashioned registration card also. The motel's ice machine was turned off in July, replaced by an ice chest in the breakfast room. The toilet was too close to the wall; my shoulder was pressing against the toilet paper rolls so I could not sit up straight. Motels in town appear to be plentiful.

I called the day before to confirm my room and the lady seemed to be yelling at me. Evidently they were busy and she told me she didn't have time to talk to me. I was only confirming we had a ground floor room since I could not walk up stairs and had made that request on the reservation. When we finally got to the hotel, she changed rooms and told me she would put me in a different room. Yet when we got to the room and tried the key it did not work, so then we tried it in the room she originally booked and it worked. When I went back to front desk to tell her she seemed to want me to move into the other room where key did not work, but I told her we were going stay there and we had to go. I was not happy...will never stay here again. The room was okay if you don't mind bad customer service. Breakfast was not great and pool was outside. Just a bad experience....

The person at the front desk was unfriendly, rude and abrupt. The area in front of the room was dirty with debris from cleaning their staircase. We had a smoking room which I booked by mistake and it appeared as if they didn't even try to air the place out. The bathroom was miniscule. We make the trip between Colorado Springs and San Diego often and will obviously never stay here again even though the rate was reasonable.
