The room was clean and had a great king bed. The pet fee was per night non refundable. For being Priority Club members, they gave us a welcome bag with water, crackers, peanut butter and cookies. The staff was very friendly and our dog loved the few patches of nice, green grass.

The Van Horn HIE is a clean motel for a night along I-10. The rooms are a bit small, but the beds are comfortable and it is reasonably quiet given the location very near I-10. Wireless internet is available, but slow. You won't get much more than basic email with the connection speed. Basic restaurants and fuel are very close by. It appeared from my night there that this is rest location for shifts of the Texas Highway Patrol because I counted as many as 10 police cars in the parking lot and they appeared to rotate through about every 12 hours. Sleep sound because no one is messing with this place.
