This hotel is located centrally in the Arts District. All service was friendly and professional; the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet with a pleasant view. It is an older building but nicely appointed and tastefully updated. It is very reasonably priced for its location and quality. Incidentally, the staff was helpful in retrieving a checkbook I'd left behind - they searched the room promptly, called me back, and offered to mail it. I plan to stay again in about six weeks, and would recommend the Eastland Park to any Portland visitor.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The room was great except for the incredibly small bathroom. The hallways on the floors upstairs were incredibly drab. They could spruce them up inexpensively with some flowers near the elevator area. The rooftop bar was very nice with a beautiful view of the city, except that their kitchen closed at 10 pm even though they were open until 1AM, and we'd been given menus. Also the bartender brought us the wrong drinks, and insisted that we'd ordered them, even though we never drink the particular drinks he brought. He eventually took them back and brought us what we had ordered. The location is not particularly close to most restaurants and is definitely a cabride from the harbor area. This hotel has to decide whether they provide free transport to the airport or not. They very nicely picked us up when we arrived at the airport and called them, but when we requested that they drop us off at the airport when we were leaving, they said that they were expecting a busload of people to come in at the time we needed to go, so they'd have to call a cab for us. I don't know what one thing had to do with the other, since the busload of people clearly didn't need a ride anywhere.

The Eastland Park Hotel is a 2-star hotel at best. With that said, the hotel is in a great location...and has amazing potential, however, the owners have chosen to renovate on the cheap. The room was clean, but, very dated. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The carpet in the hallway was worn out in places. The cable TV service channels were bottom of the line. There was NO free newspapers. I also called the front desk for an umbrella to borrow...and they told me that they did not provide them. One of the biggest disappontments was the roof top bar. The view was great, however, it was decorated and run like a standard hotel lounge...and the "muzak" was awful. The functionality of the elevators was also an issue from time to time. If you're able to secure a 2-star rate, then stay at this hotel. If not, then don't.

The Eastland Park was probably a very gracious hotel some 60-70 years ago, but it needs quite a bit of renovating. Carpets and wallpaper were worn, paint and ceilings were peeling and the windows provided no sound insulation whatsoever be prepared to be awaken by seagulls in the middle of the night -- really! Plus we had issues with the shower temperature and tub drain not functioning. Also troublesome -- the hotel sits right next to a small park that seems to serve as a bit of a meetingplace for the local homeless population. It's not the least bit dangerous as everyone is extremely courteous, but it may be something you don't want to expose your kids to. One bright spot is the rooftop lounge where you can get a nice view of Portland and where the hotel staff -- and drink selection -- is excellent. Other than the lounge however, the hotel is not at all recommended.

People are friendly and they have good service. However, the hotel is too old. The A/C was cool for only 30 mins. Neither the vending machine on my floor nor the one in the lobby was working. Travel website gave it a 3 stars. I think it is only 2.5 stars.
