Stayed here two weekends in a row for friends birthdays. Thought we'd love the location close to the beach, rustic lodge with spa and outdoor acitivities. It sounded perfect for the active friends getaway.
WEEKEND ONE: The tent bungalows were much more rustic than the on line pictures. The mattresses were like sway back horses and it was so loud - we had trouble sleeping. We asked for another room and were given the keys to another tent. We unlocked the new tent door to inspect the beds and found a man came with our new room! They gave us keys to another guests tent. We walked in on him at 11pm at night. Thank goodness he was only on his laptop. :-)
WEEKEND TWO: 5 weeks before our stay, we booked the double cabin - knowing it would be much nicer than the Tent. Less than 48 hours before check in I got the call that our cabin was double booked and they would find a place for us a to stay - at their expense. They came up with a "business like hotel" which was 1/2 block from a hospital and 1/2 mile for Hwy 17. NOT THE WEEKEND GETAWAY WE EXPECTED! The alternative was 1 night there and one night at Costanoa. After hearing ambulances and car noise all night we relented and traveled 40 miles to spend 1 night at Costanoa.
The lodge kings are very nice (not worth the $* a night) but had nice views and comfy beds. Unfortunately, the Staff service and the entire experience tainted the one good night we had To top off the weekend, I wad double charged for my massage and had to find the billers mistake!
I won't stay again - too much work for a getaway! -
Absolutely Breathtaking

Amazing location and ambiance, an upscaled ""camping"" experience, definitely not ""roughing it"", drive to nearby Pescadero and try the Artichoke Bread, within an hour of SF and Monterey, absolutely fabulous. Great, simple dinners in the restaurant, very nice breakfast buffet included with the room rate. We are definitely returning with our extended family. I've referred the CEO of my company to Costanoa and he and his family also loved their stay.
