After a bumper-to-bumper Labor Day ride to come over Rt 17 for what was to be a day trip, I decided it'd be fun to stay in Santa Cruz for the night. I found the Super 8 as it had a friendly clean street appeal (hanging baskets and such), and has an amazing proximity to beach, boardwalk, and restaurants (but just enough away to not hear or feel the crowds). I didn't even have to think about if to take a sweatshirt for the incoming night air since it's only 2ish blocks back to the room for any needs. It all made for a great stay. The owners take obvious pride in their business and warmly welcome and accommodate their guests. Now, if they could do something to make the holiday traffic drive back over 17 easier--but if I asked, I bet they'd try!!

I took my 2 boys (without my husband) for a 1 night trip to Santa Cruz so they could experince the Boardwalk. I booked this hotel with only the info I could gather on the internet. The staff was very friendly. Being without my husband I felt a little unsafe walking from the hotel to the beach which is only a couple blocks away. It's not in the best of areas. If you have a large vehicle be warned - the parking is brutal - VERY small spaces! The room was very clean and overall it's a nice place.

Website advertises 24 hour front desk. We arrived at 11 p.m. and it took 2.5 hours; 3 calls to Super 8 customer service and Travelocity customer service to get someone to answer the door and check us in. We pounded, we could hear the phone ringing as we called, but no one answered.

The pictures online are not of this hotel. This hotel is run down. Though they have done some remodeling it still needs a lot of work. The breakfast in the morning was a joke. Coffee and a package danish that was stale and the coffee tasted burnt.
