This hotel is ok if you are just staying one night like we did. If you are looking to stay any longer, I suggest you don't. The room is older and is in need of updates. The shutters would barely open and the elevator hardly worked unless you beat on it. The staff is friendly, but that is about all. Please don't bother with the restaurant Coconuts, the food is lousy and the drinks are waaaaaaay too strong with no good taste about them. My husband liked Sharkey's Pub, the music was good. All in all for a trip to the Keys...spend a little extra money, be comfortable and happy, and forgo Marina Del Mar.

Went with husband and 6 teenage boys (spring break) 2 of my own. Hotel location and amenities were great. Pool was heated at night which made for perfect swim in the cool evening. Snorkeling and party fishing boats right in marina. A park was within walking distance with basketball courts, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, etc. Family Dollar store nearby. Boys bought $6 basketball and played everyday. Coconuts restaurant has slow service and overpriced drinks, $9 for a margarita in a 10 oz plastic cup. Live band was good. Sharkeys restaurant was the best. Great burgers and Daquiri's and live band out on small quaint deck. Room was nice and big and clean with the exception of the floors. You couldn't walk barefoot in the room or your feet would be black. Stove and microwave didn't work right, but were adequate. For the price, would definitely stay again. Continental breakfast was good, but needs to have fruit.

Our family stayed six days end of March 2009. Fishing & Diving. Great location for dive boats. Hotel room floors were very dirty. Could not walk barefoot in the rooms. When I asked if our room could be mopped, got some reason that bleach couldn't be used.. blah blah.. Nice soft pillows, beds pretty comfy for Murphy beds. Dryers didn't work. Nice exercise room. OK breakfast bar, but no fruits. Pool furniture needs scrubbing and/ or replacement. Coconuts overpriced, worth the short walk to Sharkeys.

I am a hotel eng. at a big name casino in CT. The hotel was clean but lacked in maintenance. Tub stopper not installed, broken base tiles, closet doors that were way out of adjustment, and to me an antiquated entry key system. Now I know why we are a 5 star hotel. I did not complain about these deficiencies because housekeeping should have reported them. I would only rate it a1 1/2 to a 2.

Nothing fancy at this hotel. Florida-style, plain room that was clean ,but somewhat outdated. We upgraded our room to a marina view, which was blocked by palm trees, but still nice. There was a continental breakfast that was very simple. The hotel lies near a restaurant/bar called Coconuts. Do not go there! Food was so very overpriced and awful! A mahi-mahi sandwich for 14.95!!! Mushy shrimp!! Crazy. Not to mention the service was teribble. The bartender was old and nasty to us. I do not think that the hotel is in any way connected to Coconuts, though. Just lies near it...
