When I arrived there was a rude clerk on duty who was on oxygen due to age/disability. She said rooms would be available far later than normal due to an error on their scheduling service. Also, the wireless internet (one main attraction to this hotel) was down for a few days due to billing issues. I finally was let into a room at six p.m. The room had food leftovers in the bathroom, dresser, and at the headboard of the bed. When I requested a different room I was told I would need to pay for an upgrade. The breakfast is a microwavable sandwich which you must get from a locked cabinet that the front desk attendant gives you after you present a room ID card, and stale mini muffins from the day before Perkins food extras. There was no milk by 7 a.m. and terrible service at the breakfast "nook". I have stayed in many boutique hotels from San Francisco to Chicago, but this is NOT a BOUTIQUE hotel, it is more of a nightmare on Elm Street type experience.

We arrived at this hotel at nearly 1am. Even at this hour the desk clerk was alert and helpful. The room was clean and very adaquate to our needs. We were here 2 nights and were very satisfied with the Inn.

Less than a week ago, I stayed at an adjacent property at twice the cost and the service and comfort was no better than the Foothills. Folks at the front desk are friendly, the lobby is small, cozy, and clean, and the pool is small but well-kept, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The continental breakfast wasn't anything to rave about -- but if you just need a quick bowl of cereal, a muffin, and some coffee before you hit the road -- it's just fine. Plus there is a full-serve 24-hour chain restaurant right next door. If you're looking to save some $$$, need quick access to the freeway or downtown Rapid City .....this is a good safe bet.
