The room was tired run-down and walls had unpainted patches on them. The smell of smoke was horrible in the hallway as well as in the room. There appeared to be a lot of surveillance cameras on the property, but there was a homeless person camped out in one of the exterior stairways. The establishment was pretty close to the Boardwalk but there were a lot of shady individuals in the neighborhood hanging outside at all hours of the day. Therefore I didn't feel too comfortable walking in the neighborhood. I was dissatisfied with the overall quality of the establishment and would not stay there again, nor would I recommend it to a friend.

This hotel is OK for a budget traveler. The rooms are cleam, large enough, and the hotel is located in a central part of Santa Cruz. The staff was friendly. The only drawbacks are that it is an older motel so it does show its age. The other problem is the outside road noise as it is located at an intersection. The noise is not bad enough that I would not stay again but if you like quiet then you should not stay here. Overall, it is not a bad place to stay when on a budget. The boardwalk is within walking distance and there are several restrauants in the area.

The hallways smelled really bad of years of stale cigarrette smoke. The children had to cover their noses to walk thru to the room. We did not sleep under the covers, when we went out we had to leave the fan on to cleanse out the cigarrette smoke stench, just to make it bearable.
