  Stayed two nights at the Helm's Inn in a third floor room. The people at the front desk were always friendly and very helpful. Our room had a very comfortable king size bed and a small kitchen area that included a stove, microwave, small refridgerator, pots, pans, dishes, and a small table with two chairs. The room also had a nice upholstered chair. The bathroom was on the small side but very clean. The room was also very clean. They serve coffee in the lobby area each morning and tea in the afternoons. They have a computer you can use to check emails and print our plane boarding passes. We also noticed that they have a coin operated washer and dryer on site but we didn't use it. The hotel is an older building that has been well maintained. It doesn't have an elevator so if you are on the upper floors you have to carry your lugage up the stairs. It is located right across the street from the Beacon Hill Park and about two blocks from Victoria's inner harbor. In terms of location, you can easily walk to just about anywhere in down town Victoria. Our room was off the street and we did hear quite a bit of street noise but the location, room size and friendly staff more than made up for it. We would definately stay here again should we return to Victoria. While in Victoria try out the Blue Fox Cafe on Fort Street for a reasonable great breakfast.

  Truly a gem!!! Our stay at Helm's Inn was most enjoyable. The room was spacious (we had a suite with a kitchenette) and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The location is excellent - close to the inner harbor, less than five minutes walking. The staff was friendly, courteous and extremely willing to answer any questions that we had regarding local attractions and restaurants and always willing to voluntarily offer suggestions. It became our home away from home.
