My wife and I stayed there for two nights in April of 2009. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were older but clean. You can walk to the pier or the boardwalk. It's not four star, but either is the price. For the money, it's a very nice motel.

The hotel has been nicely renovated, but they didn't bother with the creaky floor joists supporting the second floor. Our upstairs neighbors woke up at 5:30 am, and neither me nor my wife could sleep through the screeching flooring. I'm a light sleeper, but my wife has slept through a 4 alarm fire (neighboring house) before. I might stay here again, but definitely not on the first floor. They also don't have enough parking spaces, and we were forced to park on the street Not a huge deal, but still a bit of a pain.

This hotel is okay, the location is great, we walked to the beach during the day and to downtown at night. The room was clean, that's really all I ask since I'm only sleeping there. The only problem we had was we were in a disabled room, and there was no blow dryer.

Staying at the Coastview was like spending a night at Motel 6. The customer service was horrible (it was apparent that I interrupted the manager's meals during both check-in and check-out). We asked for a second floor room and were told the hotel was full--it was not. Our room on the first floor was not clean. We had flea bites when we woke up the next morning. The only good thing about this place is that it is directly across the street from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk...but next time, I will pay more to stay at the nicer establishments further down the beach.

Newly renovated, clean, friendly and outstanding location right across from the beach and Boardwalk. Didn't have to drive anywhere the whole week. Santa Cruz is our annual vacation trip and this is where we will stay from now on. No need for us to look any further, Easy to run back to the room from the Boardwalk or beach if something was needed. Parking is a little tight if you have a larger vehical but we parked our truck in the upper parking lot they have and it was extremely easy. Much more room. People at the desk were friendly and helpful. We will return next year.
