We arrived at 6:30 to find their office had already closed even though the door said they were open until 9:00. There was a note taped to the door with my name on it which included directions on how to gain access to our room. Since their office was closed we were not able to use the spa or check out a movie. It was going to be a night of relaxation with a soak in the hot tub followed by a movie, but their office being closed made that impossible. The rooms are gorgeous and extremely clean. They were well-appointed and very comfortable. I don't have anything negative to say about the rooms or cleanliness themselves; however, my major concern is the quality of care being given to the lonely female buffalo on the property. Her accomodations are very small, she didn't have any grass to graze on, her pen was littered with excrement and she had very little shade. She looked extremely sad, lonely and neglected. I couldn't tell if she had food or water, but it seemed likely she didn't since she looked very weak and hardly moved while we were there. I love and respect bison and was appalled that such a beautiful property would exploit such a lovely animal in this way and am hopeful her conditions improve drastically very soon. I would love to spend time here again down the road provided they have improved the buffalo's conditions or removed her from the property to let her live happily with other bison. When we checked out the office was open; however, there was no one to be found. I did see a cleaning lady and while she was nice and apologetic for their shortcomings it's sad we were cheated.
