good location !
09/04/2008It was a very good location. the room was large, too and was comfortable. even if the breakfast of the cafe killed it, i was delicious!

We were traveling form Sedona up into Utah to see the parks. This was the distance we wanted to drive in one day, so the location was good. The motel still has a sign advertising the cafe which is non existant. There was no coffee available, but an ice machine. The room was old and large and relatively clean, the bed was comfortable and linens seemed new. The doorstep as we entered our unit was covered with dirt and we asked for a broom so we could sweep it as we didn't want to track in. Two young boys removed a door mat from an adjacent room and put it at our door. The outside of the motel has been rather recently painted. The front window on our unit did not fit in the frame and couldn't be closed. This motel has a terrible cancellation policy which obviously is necessary, because once you see the place and the staff, you wouldn't want to stay. We paid $$ for this room, which was the most we paid for any of the 6 nights that we stayed in Utah.

Manager was not in office at check in. Cleaning lady had to walk across the street to get him. He admitted to seeing us standing in front of the office for an hour. Rarely is anyone in the office. Paid for 3 days, but left after 2. Room smelled. No central air (as advertised), one OLD AC wall unit. No "cafe" (as advertised), looks like it has been closed down for awhile. No screen on window. Only 4 TV channels. There is no phone in the room. I book with these travel companies, trusting that they would only list acceptable accomodations. This was the first time I was let down. I will now make sure I always book with a recognized hotel chain. I had paid for 3 night and I actually left after the 2nd night, because I could not bare staying another minute. Bryce Canyon is BEAUTIFUL and the only redeeming part of my experience.

Cafe was not open, I had to drive 8 miles to a gas station for a cup of coffee. The bathroom had flies and the toilet seat was cracked and peeling. The air conditioning unit was old, noisy, had broken controls and was mounted on a piece of plywood stuck through the window. The positives are that the sheets were clean and the water was hot.

The Country here is gorgeous! The pictures of Bryce Canyon are nothing compared to the sights seen here. The New Bryce Inn was a pleasant place to stay. The manager did say they have been renovating and improving the rooms as well as the grounds. Our room was spacious and well kept. The resturant served good food. Being so close to a place like Bryce Canyon will bring us back when we come out west in the future.
