Checked in at 730 pm, after 8-hr drive from Oregon. We got a room in one-story section that had only 2 rooms, set apart from other main wings of the motel. Opened door and walked into what felt like an oven. Had to be over 90 in there. Turned A/C on highest, could only feel feeble breeze a few inches away. An hour later and it was still unbearable, hardly any cooler. Management checked the A/C and promised it would cool up very soon. I asked if another room would be cooler; was told that no A/C was turned on in any unoccupied rooms so it wouldn't help to move rooms. Finally drove across street to a motel, checked a room to be sure it was cool, and checked out of the Lamplighter. I only got back the money for the 2nd night, but we would have been miserable had we stayed there. I will say that the man and a woman (owners?) were very kind and seemed to want to help, but it was unacceptable. I read other comments about remodeled rooms, and I'm pretty sure this was not one of those.

This was an older hotel, but they are working to update and it was clean. It was not fancy, just gave us a place to spend the night as we were traveling. It was a fair value and while not a vacation destination, we would not be afraid to stay again if we were passing through.

This hotel was horribly disgusting. I'm usually pretty easy-going, and I know cheaper hotels aren't always the nicest, but this one was awful. I suspected we were in trouble when we pulled up and the paint was peeling off the buildings. Our room had debris on the floor, there were power outlets with missing covers (exposed wiring), the towels were stained and dirty (the kind of dirt that comes off when you rub it), there were hairs in the sheets, pillowcases had crusty stains on them, and the tub was was chipped and hadn't seen any Comet cleaner in a few years. We asked for another room, and were given the option of two other rooms, both of which were equally gross so we just stayed in the first room. The owner lady was very nice, in fairness, but the status of the place was just inexcusable. Their sign said ""under new management"", so I don't know if they're in the process of fixing these issues, or if the ""new management"" is responsible for the place being in shambles, but I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. It's the first hotel I've stayed at where I seriously considered just leaving and finding another hotel that night. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.
